ORAPS is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Ohio community since October 2009. Our main goal is to deconstruct older buildings and rescue the old growth lumber. So it can be used to help save the history of our towns before our cities are forced to tear down many of these places and send them to landfills.
From what will have to be torn down, we want to deconstruct them so we can recycle about 90% of the material instead of taking it to the landfill. This will keep us from having to cut down more trees. We want to see this old growth wood used for period correct restoration and woodworking projects.
One thing that stands us apart from other organizations of similar fashion is that we are more interested in lumber than sinks, fixtures, or hardware. We are trying to keep the old growth lumber out of the landfills and help individuals or groups that are restoring vintage buildings a resource to acquire this old growth lumber for their restoration or woodworking projects.
To find out if we have the wood you need please contact us directly.
